It's the most wonderful time of the year

I always forget how much I love home... I only had Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off of work - really wish I had more time off. (Waiting for Dominion to realize I actually don't live in NoVa). One weekend was definitely not enough time. I tried to see so many people and do many things, but with the hustle and bustle with Christmas I didn't get to do everything I wanted. But everything I did get to do was fantastic!

Christmas Eve, my brothers and I headed over to my Dad's to celebrate. As always, we had delicious chicken parm (it gets better every year!!!) -- and what would Christmas with Dad be without Amy Grant??? Classic. It was really funny, because we had Alex say grace before dinner -- and my brothers and I all noticed that Alex doesn't close his eyes... Although I guess that means our eyes weren't closed either ;) After dinner we opened our gifts -- it was really fun watching Alex open his gifts. I don't think he understands the concept of Santa... but I am sure he will next year. I got a lot of neat stuff - must have been on the "nice" list this year :) After presents, we opened our stockings... and as always scratched our lotto tickets. Dan won $80 bucks!!! I won $15, Alex won $2 (I tried to take it from him... it's not like he's old enough to cash it in), and Rick (as always) didn't win anything! I always feel really bad for him... but not bad enough to give him my winnings :)

Christmas day everyone came over, and my mom put us all to work right away. Which means John handed all of us a beer. We have no concept of time in the Demeter house. We also don't eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner... we just have one huge meal. After we ate, we opened gifts - which was especially funny with Harley over this year. He wanted to open everyone's gifts. After eating all that turkey, everyone was tired. Dan walked over to Grandma's to take a nap, Rick went upstairs to take a nap, Mom went upstairs to take a nap, I napped on the couch (with Harley - boy did he keep me warm!), and Juan watched TV. The funny thing is, we all woke up at the same time. We all had a lot of fun together on Christmas :)

Pretty cute, eh?

The next day I met up with my friend Taylor from JMU for breakfast in Virginia Beach. It was really great to just sit down with him and catch up. My conversations with Taylor are always memorable -- because we always talk about "the five things you're never supposed to talk about". I hadn't been to Virginia Beach in so long, we walked along the boardwalk. I was impressed with how much of it I had remembered. One of my favorite things about Virginia Beach is the no cussing signs... I had forgotten about those - we're tryin to clean Virginia Beach up! So of course I had to take a photo of Taylor in front of it!

I met up with my Dad and brothers at Chesapeake Pizza for lunch for my Dad's birthday. The pizza was amazing (I wouldn't expect anything less). Happy Birthday Dad!! You don't look a day over 40 ;)

I drove over Norfolk to visit Rachel. She wasn't feeling to well... which was hilarious. She was really adamant about not having her photo taken... so of course I had to do it. We had great conversation and a lot of good laughs. She also got me these super cute pajama pants - she's the best!

I went over to the Gilmore's that night to visit with B - he was home from Switzerland and is doing really well! It was great to catch up with him and hear how he is doing. Isla provided lots of entertainment for us... If I ever have a kid, I hope it's half as cute as this one - Isla is hilarious. She has great nonverbals and it's just hysterical watching her.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year everyone - see you in 2010!!
