I successfully completed the Monument 10k! What does that mean? I ran the full 6.2 miles without my legs falling off! It was a beautiful morning for the race. Two of my friends from NoVa, Kaitlyn and Ashley, drove down to run in it. My cousins, Ian and Kristen, were also running in it - Ian is lightning fast though. I was able to beat my time from last year, which was my goal. It felt really good to cross the finish line. I can honestly say that I have no desire at this point to run a half or full marathon, but I will continue to run for exercise. It really helps reduce my stress, and I can feel how much stronger my legs are.
After the race, Kristen, Kaitlyn, Ashley, and myself went to eat at Silver Diner. We all got brunch - which was amazing! The best part was, we got seated right away. After brunch, Kaitlyn and Ashley hit the road back to NoVa... and so did I - for the Caps hockey game!
A part of me debating on running straight up to DC for the Caps game, but I thought better of it. I got there with plenty of time. Scott and I ate dinner and grabbed a few beers at Capitol City before the game. I asked Scott if we were going to look like nerds walking around in our jerseys. He assured me, that in a few hours, there would be nerds everywhere. And boy were there. There were Caps jerseys for days! It was my first NHL game and I had a blast. It was Fan Appreciation night, and we all got a free bobble head. I put it on my desk at work. I was so excited to see my man, Ovechkin, play. The score was tied in the last period, but Ovechkin scored in overtime - it was a great win for the Caps!
My man - Ovechkin!
congrats on the race!! =) can't wait till we run a race together!
