I met Jeannette this summer in my women’s small group. She is really into kayaking. She tries to make it out to the lake in the morning, but always goes every night at sunset. She takes her camera with her and captures the most beautiful images of the wild life, lake, and sunset. Who knew Richmond had such beautiful scenery to offer?!
On Sunday night I went kayaking for the first time. I’m not the most outdoorsy gal, but it was really peaceful… when I wasn’t paddling my hardest. Jeannette is a natural – she makes it look effortless. She gently places her paddle in the water, switching from side-to-side, and is coasting down the lake. Meanwhile, I’m about 50 ft behind her attempting to book it. I was paddling so fast my arms started to hurt! I was spalshin’ up water in my kayak, and I wasn’t getting very far. But it was totally worth it!
I don’t really consider Richmond “city living”, but you do get some hustle and bustle downtown. When I finally caught up to Jeannette, we simply sat in our kayaks, looking out onto the lake. The view was breathtaking. The lake was quiet, calm, and peaceful. As I watched the sun set, I felt I was one with nature (or whatever it is that people say). It was the perfect time to get away and not think about work, but instead to reflect on what this fall will bring. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me, the things He will teach me along the way, and seeing how He will use me to glorify His kingdom.
Deuces,
Anna
