back where I come from...

My friend from high school, Heather, came to NoVa to visit me this weekend.  She got into town around 6ish on Friday night.  We headed to a small Italian restaurant in Herndon for dinner.  I had been to this restaurant before with coworkers, and thought it would perfect because it is not a chain.  I had the baked ziti and Heather had ravioli.  Our meal was delicious and quite authentic!  After dinner, we headed to Friday Night Live to see Kristen and the Noise.  FNL occures every Friday night during the summer months in Herndon.  It is a free event to attend to, and there is always a band.  They sell glow sticks, beer, and wine.  All the donations go to the Herndon High School After Prom Party.  My roommate, Amanda, is very involved with FNL and volunteers every Friday.  Being Amanda's roommate, I totally got the hook up.  There were chairs already laid out in a good location to see the band, andddd I got free beer tickets, so I didn't have to pay the $5 for my beer.  I did tip though!! (that was for you Amanda!!)  Kristen and the Noise ROCKED.  They played all cover songs, from the 80s, 90s, and today.  I was very impressed!  I had an amazing first experience at FNL.  I am going back to FNL on the 14th of August for Amanda Palooza (Amanda's 26th birthday).  I am already looking forward to it!

Saturday, I took Heather to Tysons.  I personally think this mall is HUGE.  We walked around into the different shops, a lot of which we had never heard of, and stopped into Panera for lunch.  We came back to the apartment to watch "The Devil Wears Prada" because Heather had never seen it.  We made 'breakfast for dinner'.... pancakes and scrambled eggs with juice.  YUM.  We also watched "No Reservations".  It was a great day to catch up on each others lives because I don't get to talk to Heather very often.  She has so many new things going on on her life... her and her husband Jason recently bought a townhouse, she is traveling to France this summer with her mom, and Jason got a promotion!!  I got to tell her about all the big changes in my life.  It was just a great time to sit down and really talk about ourselves and the people in our lives.  We also caught the season finale of "16 and Pregnant".  I don't know if any of you have seen this show, but it's pretty hilarious.  These girls are, well, 16 and pregnant.  This episode was actually very interesting because the young couple had to decide if they wanted to keep the baby or give it up for adoption.  Most of the shows however I just find funny because these young girls have no idea whatsoever how difficult it is to raise a child.  The way they talk and act is just.... shocking to me.  So we watched the show and had a few good laughs.  I think my roommate Amanda might have shed a few tears ;)

I don't have any big plans today.  Probably just laying out at the pool and then headed to church tonight.  I have a busy workweek this week - thank goodness it is only a 4 day week for me though.  Next weekend, I have Sarah's wedding in Salem.  I feel like I am busy busy busy.

Have a great week everyone!!
