the new kid

Being the new kid stinks.  You feel alone, don't know what to do or where to go, and you feel... well, like a dope.

When I started my job at DVP in August '08, I was petrified about my first day.  This was my first real job.  Even though I had no idea what I was walking into, I was more concerned about one thing: Who am I going to eat lunch with on the first day?

Talk about a flash back to high school.

Ashleigh was my first friend at Dominion.  We met on my first day, and she immediately befriended me - no questions asked.  She explained to me her job (and mine!), gave me the scoop on the office, and... went out to lunch with me.  I remember we ate at Chick-Fil-A, and I was so thankful for her.

One thing I will always remember is looking at the Tiffany's website with Ashleigh.  We would look at all the beautiful jewelry, but we loved looking at the engagement rings.  Boy, were we dreaming!

Ashleigh is now engaged, and this past Saturday afternoon, I drove up to Fredericksburg for her Bridal Shower.  I have been in Richmond for a full year now, so it was really fun to see her and celebrate this exciting time with her.  The cool thing is, she is exactly the same: super friendly to everyone.

Ashleigh is getting married this Memorial Day weekend.  I can't wait to catch up with old Dominion friends, potentially catch the bouquet, dance the night away, and most importantly, to see Ashleigh as a bride!
