teacher lady

I was always well behaved in school.  My Mom would come home and tell me things that her students would say to her, and my heart always went out for her.  Some kids are just plain nasty!  But my Mom has the best teacher lady voice - it travels and people hear it loud and clear.  She taught middle school home economics.  Every kid needs to know how to sew, cook, and do laundry.  (Mom, what are you making for dinner next weekend?)

Mrs. Alisa Adams also has the same teacher lady voice.  I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer in her classroom at A.M. Davis Elementary School this past week.  Alisa teaches 2nd grade, and I have a whole new respect for elementary school teachers.  You are essentially a single parent with 24 kids.  The majority of the kids are disrespectful, not disciplined, don't give two flips about school, and straight up don't listen.  I was exhausted at the end of the day, and I didn't even volunteer a full day!

It was a great experience, and I am thrilled that I was able to provide a helping hand to Alisa during her last week of the school year.  She is an amazing woman and does so much for me.  The least I could do was help her out for one day!  Her students even made me thank you cards - it was really sweet!  And surprising :)

I will say, I am thankful I am not a school teacher.  It is definitely not for me.  If you know someone who is a teacher, praise them this week.  Show them your appreciation.  Thank them for all the hard work they do to help positively impact kids lives.  They deserve a lot more recognition than we give them credit for!!!

Xo,

A
