I saw Jason Mraz in concert with Allison my sophomore year of college at the Norva in Norfolk - it was an awesome show. I saw him again my senior year of college at the National in Richmond with Allison, Laura (whom I didn't know at the time, but is now one of my best friends!), Andy (Laura's brother), and Jason (Allison and Laura's friend). Again, another awesome show!
Jason Mraz recently came to the Carpenter Theatre in Richmond, and I went with my friend Juliana. He hasn't had anything on the radio in a few years, but I remembered how awesome he is live and knew immediately I wanted to go. Juliana and I were lucky to get tickets - they sold out within five minutes! We arrived early to the Carpenter Theatre to catch up - we talked about everything, but mostly how excited we were to be there :) I noticed there were a lot of young kids there, which really surprised me. Then I heard that Jason Mraz reserved 900 tickets for kids who are a part of SPARC: School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community. Apparently Jason Mraz is an alumni (he grew up in Mechanicsville!) and wanted to give back to this organization - what a sweet guy :)
The two other times I saw him in concert, he had a band with him - this time it was just him and Toco Rivera - all accoustic (think coffee shop style). It was AMAZING. Jason Mraz, much like fine wine, gets better with age. This show topped the last two!
Since he is a native of Richmond, he opened his show with this song:
His new album comes out this spring, and I can't wait to get it!
Toco Rivera and Jason Mraz
What my actual view looked like (without the zoom on my camera)
He's so talented!!
Jason Mraz brought out a few kids that are involved in SPARC to sing with him
He started at 8pm and performed until 10.30pm - but it flew by!! I loved every minute of it. I forgot how much I enjoyed his music!! If you want to listen to some of his songs, a few of my favorites are: Life is Wonderful, Wordplay, Clockwatching, You and I, The Remedy, I'm Yours, and Lucky. Ok, I have a lot of favorites - and I will have even more when his new album comes out!
Enjoy,
Anna
Your pics turned out SO good, Anna!!! Thanks again for the great idea to get tickets...awesome show! I had so much fun with you! :)
